SVDP Scout Mass
|
By early December, get the list of current SVDP Altar Servers
so that P505 Cubs / T505 Scouts / C505 Venturers who are on the
list can be identified, and arrangements made for 5 of them
to be assigned for the Scout Mass.

By early December, get the list of current SVDP Lectors
so that P505 / T505 / C505 Scouters who are on the
list can be identified, and arrangements made for 2 of them
to be assigned for the Scout Mass.

|
By early January, select the music to be used for the Scout Mass.
Schedule two music rehearsals (the first, a week and a half prior;
the second, a few days prior).
|
|
By early January, order the Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei medals,
pocket certificates, and patches from the Treasurer of the
Archdiocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting
(who in turn has to order them from National).
|
|
At the same time, order the Scout Sunday Program Covers
so you have them in hand by mid January
(5 packages of 100 should be sufficient).
This will allow plenty of time to have the programs
printed, folded, and ready to go by the end of January.
Past programs:
2010,
2009,
2008,
2007,
2006,
2005,
2004,
2003,
2002,
2001.

Prepare an envelope for each Cub/Scout/Venturer who has earned a religious emblem;
this envelope should contain some or all of the following, as appropriate:
- "Dear Religious Award Recipient" letter
- Youth Religious Award Square Knot (silver-on-purple)
- Pin Device
- Pocket Certificate (Cub Scout emblems only)
- Patch (Cub Scout emblems only)
|
|
Prior to the start of Mass, select ushers to hand out programs;
select flag bearers; and select Scouts to bring up the gifts.
|
|
Here is the "Reserved
for Scouts and Scout Leaders" sign that is placed at each end of
each reserved pew, well prior to the start of Mass.
(Note that the Wood Badge Font is required for proper printing.)
|
|
Here is a sample pre-Mass announcement to be read by the lector
(it will need some fine-tuning each year):
Today is the vigil of Scout Sunday.
In 2007, Scouting celebrated its worldwide centenary;
Scouting has been an important part of SVDP's youth ministry
for nearly 60 of those 100 years.
Scouts and leaders from the Cub Scout Pack,
Boy Scout Troop, and Venturing Crew will be serving as
lectors, altar servers, and cantor, as well as
providing the music for this Mass.
